Winners 2004
The British Glove Association, in collaboration with the Worshipful Company of Glovers, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2004 Glove Design Competition. They are as follows:
Category 1: Design a men's or ladies leather glove, suitable to be included in a designer's collection.
1st Prize: Susannah Williamson, University of Northumbria
Runner-up: Katie Cooper, Rotherham College of Arts & Technology
Category 2: Design a glove for a special occasion.
1st Prize: Liadhain Gibbs, Croydon College.
Runner-up: Bethany Nottage, Salisbury College
Category 3: Design a technical glove for a specific sport/hobby/purpose.
1st Prize: Emily Atkinson, University of Central England
Runner-up: Joanna Tricker, The Sheffield College
The Silver Salver, which is awarded to the college judged to have contributed the best series of designs and held for one year, has been awarded to Liverpool John Moores University.

The competition has now been running since 1975. Its purpose is to encourage students to create practical yet original glove designs. The judges look for designs that show a commercial aspect in respect of the ease of manufacture and sell-ability.
The Worshipful Company of Glovers is one of the ancient livery companies that once controlled and regulated their craft in the City of London. Nowadays, whilst continuing to retain strong links with their original trades, they are active in maintaining the traditions of the City and support education and charities in the wider community.
